Inarguably two of the biggest reasons that people choose which HVAC company to use is based on price and experience. Although they are good factors to consider; age and cost alone are not what define HVAC companies as trustworthy or not so much. There are several things you need to consider before you put your trust into an HVAC company. These six qualities can help guide you to hire someone that deserves your trust and business.
It might be super frustrating to call a company to find out how much your HVAC repair or replacement will cost and not get an answer, but most estimates or quotes can not be given via the phone and be fair. There are a lot of factors that go into the final cost of a project. And until an HVAC technician has evaluated a specific situation, the estimate is probably nothing more than a guess.
Most of the time the cost of a project can not be estimated until you really get in and take a look. So if a company thinks they can quote or estimate your problem based on you explaining, they will probably be reticent to put that estimate in writing. The estimate given without truly taking a look will undoubtedly come with additional “unforeseen” costs that will typically end up costing you a lot. So it is best to think twice before believing the total cost by phone is the total cost.
A reputable company will be in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. Finding out how the company you called rates is as easy as going to the Better Business Bureau site. A good BBB rating usually means that a company cares about their customers’ satisfaction and about the quality of the service they provide.
Online reviews are an awesome way to get candid feedback about the quality of an HVAC company’s service. Not only are people happy to share their good experiences, they are motivated to share their bad ones. So reading reviews can not only help you find a credible and trustworthy company; at times, it can help you weed through those that are less than. However, make sure that the quality of the reviews you read are real and genuine. Sometimes they can be nothing more than paid advertising; so know the source before you choose to follow it blindly.
Often a homeowner will go with the cheapest alternative to fix their heating and cooling issues. But unfortunately, often, you get what you pay for. Reliability means not just that someone will show up the first time to collect their fee, but that they will continue to show up when, or if, things go wrong. If they don’t offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on their products and workmanship, that is a red flag that they don’t believe in the quality of their work; and neither should you.
HVAC is an exact science and takes training and expertise to get it right. And it also takes a willingness to be abreast of continuing education and industry upgrades. Before you choose a company, make sure that their technicians are not only highly trained, but also continually involved in the HVAC education community.
Manufacturers will often only allow those HVAC companies that they can trust to represent them in a good light to be a dealer. When choosing a HVAC company, make sure that they are a certified dealer for the manufacturer that you want to purchase, or currently own. The only way to remain a dealer is to maintain the right training, certification, and excellence of compliance.
Unfortunately, not all of us have an endless budget when it comes to replacing or repairing HVAC problems. But if you go by price alone without verifying the trustworthiness of the company you hire; you will probably end up regretting it. At Custom Climate, we ensure our customers are 100% satisfied with our work every time without fail. And when you hire us, you can be assured that you can trust that we will get it right.

Great company. Changed out both of our units when they went down in the middle of the Summer. Showed up the next day after the call and had it cooled down later that day, came back the following day to finish up and were gone like nothing happened. Customer service is great as well. Get mine serviced 2/year and they are always punctual and courteous. Eric did the service this February, great guy and nice to meet another FL boy living in the Lowcountry. He was efficient, thorough, courteous, and always had a smile on his face. It is nice to not get the standard grumpy, gruff servicemen we all have come to expect from other companies. Thanks Custom Climate, keep up the customer service and you have a customer for life!
We have replaced three of our 5 heat pumps in the last year and used Custom Climate. They did a great job of explaining the different units and what they thought was best for us. We just had our first semi-annual maintenance of all of our units and Darryl was our service technician. He was polite, punctual and was here quite awhile making sure everything was working properly. He also asked at the end of the call if I had any questions of him and could he do anything else for me. Wonderful experience and such a polite young man. I hope we get him again on our next check up.
